    Core Description

    Join our team as a Tech Officer in Network Field Operations! You will be responsible for the installation, recovery, repair, and maintenance of telephone equipment, services, cables, wireless, and fibre technology to meet customer needs.


    Job Responsibilities

    1. Co-ordinated Resources
    • Determine and analyze objectives.
    • Identify and secure necessary resources, including monetary and mechanical aids, storage, and packaging materials.
    1. Maintained Resources
    • Inspect, replace, and secure resources.
    • Comply with yard rules, update records, maintain tool lists, and ensure the upkeep of equipment, vehicles, and tools.
    1. Processed Documentation
    • Obtain, update, and file various documentation types, including commissioning reports, quality forms, inspection forms, and vehicle logsheets.
    1. Performed Network Inspections
    • Execute inspections, liaise with customers and contractors, and provide feedback on access network, bush cutting, quality, new works, acceptance testing, and identifying faulty cables.
    1. Repaired/Maintained Cable Network
    • Conduct quality checks, diagnose faults, request materials, complete repairs, update cable records, and rehabilitate work areas.
    1. Installed or Recovered Equipment and Systems
    • Analyze requests, perform pre-installation tests, install/recover equipment, commission systems, perform functional tests, communicate with customers, and restore work areas.
    1. Repaired/Maintained Equipment/Systems
    • Diagnose faults, perform routine maintenance, modify/upgrade systems, conduct functionality tests, complete documentation, and liaise with key role players.
    1. Established and Maintained Customer Relations
    • Analyze and prioritize customer enquiries, establish and maintain professional relationships, process customer enquiries, and provide feedback.
    1. Dismantled/Recovered Equipment
    • Plan and execute the dismantling and recovery of equipment, inform customers, obtain clearance, and complete related documentation.

    • Functional Knowledge: ADSL, Broadband Technologies, EMGW, Installation/Maintenance Procedures, Network Infrastructure, Safety Regulations, and Standards.

    Education & Experience

    • Education: NQF 4 (Grade 12) and relevant modular training, or NQF 3 (Grade 10) and relevant modular training.
    • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a relevant role.

    Certifications & Special Requirements

    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • Willingness to travel and stay overnight.
    • Ability to work outside of normal working hours.
    • Physical requirements include color vision, working at heights, and confined spaces.
